Valve on DC return pump output?

My new DC-4000 pump is way too much for the tank even on the lowest speed. I would like to put a valve on the output (like I had on my AC pump before).

Will it hurt anything?

It won't hurt anything. It's just like having increased head pressure.

Yep.. you can always put a valve on the output but NEVER on the input..
