Valve Recommendations

As I get closer to starting my new build, I'd love to have some input on valve selection. I really am done with the low quality valves from Lowes and Home Depot. I'm looking for a brand recommendation that remains easy to open and close over time. Both ball and gate.

really, all depends on how often you turn them if it's a valve that MAYBE once a year you turn to do maintenance on your return, go with the cheaper American Standard brand from lowes. if it something you need to adjust alot spend a bit more and get a good valve like a cepex. whatever you do, be sure it is true union valve so you can take it apart and not worry about shutting down your system.

also, if it's fine tuning you need to do such as for a bean animal or reactors get a gate valve and not a ball. true union again.

ohh, get them threaded not slip. easier to reuse them latsr.

My experience with the big box valves has been pretty much the opposite of others, if I don't turn them for an extended period of time, they are next to impossible to budge. But if they are used on a regular basis, they turn ok.
Cepex, Hayward, Spears.. They are all quality. Definitely a "get what you pay for" item. AND they turn smooth as silk whether they are used daily or yearly.

Cpex, never had an issue with turning one. The cheap big box ones can be a pain to attempt and close even if it is only a few times a year. Not worth the headache

I found American Valve brand, true union ball valves at my local Lowes. These are the white sch40 style with red handles. They're easy to turn and have adjustable internals like the Cepex. They had sizes from 1/2" to 2".
