Vampire tang

I have a mature vampire approx 8 inches long feeding well, In the last few says I have notice a mark on its face, which has now disappeared and left a round white mark/whole no other marks or issues along the lateral line, I feed nori daily, and as a precaution I have removed the carbon, anyone any ideas!

How long have you had the fish? Was it quarantined? What are the other inhabitants of the tank? When was the last animal added to the tank?

fwiw, my tenenti gets a white mark around his lip quite often that sticks around for a while then goes away and comes back several months later. never knew what it was. yours is a little further back on the head, but not totally different from what mine gets.

is it getting any larger each day? is he scratching it on rocks due to itching?

No no itching or rubbing and I've had this fish since a juvinille

Nothing added the tank has been running for 5 years

i doubt its anything serious, he either hurt himself or got a pimple (lympho)

if his behavior had changed it would be a different story.

I always thought these were called lieutenant tangs, and now that you've called it a vampire tang... It really does look like a vampire!!!
