vaseline harmful?

I have a 5.5g tank that, for various reasons, had vaseline smeared around the edges while it was dry. I have done my best to remove the traces that are still there, but I am a bit worried that it will be harmful to the inhabitants that I plan to add to it.

does anyone know if it will be okay? I removed as much as I could and will be running large amounts of carbon in it for a week or two before livestock is added.

Ive used vasoline to lube oring seals on filters and the such on my fish only tanks and my reef tanks and never had a problem....thats my experience with vasoline...........

thanks, I will run a skimmer on it as soon as I can, I have had it soaking for awhile, now I just need to set it up.

Vaseline is a petrolium based product. If there's any that made it into the tank the surface would show a slick. If this is the case just lay a paper towel over it and lift and discard quickly. That should help remove any traces.
