Vectra M1 - noise level?

Hi everyone, I've heard all these reports of it being 'silent.'

My sump has the following pumps:

Nyos 3.0 pump, a Sicce Syncra 1.5, Red Dragon Mini.

The loudest piece of equipment in my tank is hands down the Vectra, it has the 'computer running' whirring hum, and if I change the return flow rate, it goes up and down (like a fan spinning up and down).

I am not saying it is 'loud' I am saying that it is audible and noticeably so compared to my other equipment. It is also the most powerful, I am running it at about 80% speed after calibration (minimum set was a trickle, and maximum set was 100%)

Can people with M1's let me know their experiences? I am running it on soft flexible hose into pvc plumbing to a return (through 2 loc line pipes).

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Just got M1 from warranty two days ago and this one has the same 'computer running' whirring hum...we have most same settings, i am running it at 75% actually attached to flex hose and max calibration set at 100%.

Not sure but when I got the first one a month ago it seemed to be quieter than this one...:sad2:

Yep this seems much louder than advertised, I will contact retailer and also open a support ticket. Although the culture at ecotech seems to have changed from 'premium product premium service' hope I don't get the 'working within design tolerances' bs...

Hi Noncile,

I have a similar issue to you and am also based in Oz.
The response from echotech is that it could be my plumping (although mine is 20mm Eiheim soft hose), they also suggested taking apart the pump although its only a couple of months old.

What did you need to do to get the pump replaced?

Sent it to lfs who sent it to distributer who was able to replicate my problem.

Honestly I feel like the culture and service at ecotech is changing for the worse..

No knock on the local guys though local distributer is really good.

The new one is still whiny above 70-80% I would not buy this product again (also because of no xwm Neptune apex support)

Did either of you get this resolved to satisfaction?

As always, Ive found this after buying the pump. My M1 is also noisy - as you report with the computer hum. I had to faff about plumbing the barb kit to use 18mm hose & am running it in a Reefer 250 at approx 60% and can hear it in another room…

I bought the battery backup too. Not happy.
