Velvet or brook

Hi guys,

Got some bad fish from diver's den and infected everyone of my guys. I was preparing for a tank move so all my fish are in a 40G breed and a 20G.

I've been trying to cure them for a week now... currently on CopperSafe for 6 days but doesnt seem to be working, still getting new white spots... I have some pros helping from r2--r , thought I'd get some more eyes ... really want to save these guys:

First thought it was ich, then thought it was velvet, now starting to think its brook:

PT and regal were the ones that showed initial signs of disease (scratching, breahting heavy, etc). I started treatment and afterwards, the rest of the crew all have the white spots. Right now, potters angel and regal angel are scratching. Since copper started, they arent breathing as heavy as before. All the fish pretty much have white spots but hard to snap pic of them because some of them have to be viewed at an angle to see the white spots, and its very faint.

Copper will take 30 days to work so don't expect overnight miracles. Are they swimming into the flow of a powerhead? Also keep a very close eye on Ammonia with those fish. Use an ammonia badge if you have one.

Did u formalin dip them prior to copper? That will give some temporary relief and possibly buy you some time if it is velvet

If they have been alive longer than 2 weeks there's a good chance it's not velvet...fingers crossed

The recommended time for treatment with cupramine is 2 weeks. Either way if its brook cupramine will not be effective. People here recommends formalin, but if you are in the same situation as me (cant get it plus in a carcinogenic) I would recommned paraguard.

But looking at it, I dont think is brook, but Im not an expert.

Well, I know copper takes time but my understanding once I hit therapeutic dosage of copper, new white spots shouldn't be forming because the parasites would die in the free swimming stage..

Oh well, lets see how this goes!
