Vent for humidity

12x12 fish room. I use a dehumidifier but want to instal an exhaust fan to help vent out heat and humidity. What does everyone recommend ? I would prefer not to use a regular bathroom vent/fan since they are noisy and not really meant for continuous use.

I am in the sam situation and am about to install a 8" in line exhaust fan and ductwork in my rafters. It's rated 700cfm. That's probably an overkill and I plan on having the fan corolla by a humidistat of some sorts.
Now if I can make my self go up and cut a hole in the side of my roof......

Look at the Panasonic wisperline inline fan. I run one on a humidistat/thermostat. Dead silent. I cant hear it at all.

You can look at a inline type fan (Fantech for me) which allows you to remotely locate the fan motor and keep the noise isolated from living areas. I put one in for my walkout basement and theater room. I set them up with a Honeywell fan controller that allows you to run it on a periodic basis automatically.

One thing to consider is if you are venting air out of the house there has to be a source replacing the air.

+1 Panasonic whisper series of fans, you seriously will not know they are on unless the room is dead silent ( i.e. the sounds of the tank is going are going to be louder than the fan), IIRC Pansonic Whisper fans are meant to be run continuously if necessary. I have mine hooked up to a humidistat, so it only turns on if the humidity gets over 65%

Kind of off topic, but i have found that what I have added for a completely different reason, has resolved my humidity issues.

I installed a quietcool whole house fan for this summer. I will spare you the details of my HUGE $$ savings by automating this to run in lieu of my A/C unit, but the benefit from running this thing has greatly reduced my house's humidity and also substantially freshened the air in the house.

I know you are considering a vent fan, but I'm just throwing this out there as a possible solution for multiple issues.

My setup: Whole house fan running on Insteon receivers. Insteon thermostat with humidity sensor. Insteon Wireless thermostat to detect outside temp. All controlled my an ISY.

Short sdescription:
If outside temp is low, and inside temperature is higher and not at a set threshold, my ISY pauses my thermostat (A/C) and kicks on my whole house fan and relays to my fresh air inlet box. When threshold is met, cycle reverses.

I also have it kick on for a minute or so every hour to freshen the air up a bit. No major temperature change, but good fresh air and lower humidity.

Just a thought.

If your fish room is sealed, a whole house solution may not be for you. Inline fan, would be the way to go. Like others have said, you need a fresh air inlet (of some sort). Otherwise you fan will get loud and will not be effective due to its inability to remove air.
