Any one on here had any luck keeping the Ventralis Anthias? I have heard that they can be difficult to keep. I would love to have a small herrum (1 male, 4-5 females).
A local Reef club member bought 3, and after the first week or so, one died, and after about a year he still has the remaining two. Very beautiful fish.
Wow 71 people have seen this, but no one here has had experiance with them. Are they really that uncommon in this hobby? I would have thought that alot of people had attempted to keep them as they are so beautiful!
Its hard to find healthy specimens and even they fair poorly so success stories are few and far between.
Given their size and beauty they get thrown into reef aquariums that have high lighting and high temps which these fish do not tolerate very well.
I tried keeping 5 in my old 600g that was lit by MH's and they all stayed back in the rockwork and would only dart out to eat. I ended up losing them one by one over the course of a year because they either beat up on each other or didn't get enough food.
