have one on hold that is fat, not shy at all, and eating prawn eggs and nipping pellets.
my questions are...

1. any nipping at your corals, zoas, clams etc?

2. temp your keeping them at?

3. How long have you had it for?

Thanks,
derek

Ive had mine for a couple months now, and she seems to be doing really well (though Im reserving final judgment for a few more months at least).

1) She hasnt nipped at anything other than algae. I have a wide variety of soft coral, euphyllia, zoanthids, chalice, lobophyllia, dendro, etc. I have not tried her with a clam though.

2) Average temp is about 78.

She is fairly shy, though not nearly as bad as she was initially. Currently housed in a 240 with about 400 pounds of live rock, which gives her Plenty of caves and hiding places to feel secure. The only other fish in there are a pair of Odontanthias borbonius, and a trio of Banggai Cardinals, so aggression is minimal too, which Im sure helps.

Mine was eating prepared foods within 5 minutes of being released into the tank (( granted, it spent the first 8 hours in a little breeder box that was inside the tank --- had to go to work and didn't want to worry about anyone attacking it )). It has been eating PE Mysis, LifeLine's Herbivore mix, Rod's food (( red, green and blue label )), and Prime Reef. All of those it eats with gusto.

As for my corals and what not, has left zoas and my clam alone. I only have one LPS, which it has left alone, but that one is near my pink skunk's anemone so he gets chased off before it could nip. Has been picking at SPS a bit, but haven't seen damage to them -- just less PE.

Now that it is summer time, my temps are around 78-83 (( 75-78 in winter )).

I have had it for a months now -- got it from the DD section of LA.

Know that you didn't ask, but had to share... :)

Had mine for over a year, one of the most outgoing fish I have, will eat anything offered.

Recently got back from vacation (4th of July) and while I was gone the air conditioner blew a fuse, temp in the tank was 93 Degrees! Did some quick water replacement and got the temp back down to the mid 80's. Generally keep it at around 76 to 78 degrees. The only fish I lost was my Potters angel, which I think my Venustus was "ok" with since he is now #1 on the pecking order in my tank. Other Tankmates are Pep Hogfish, BlueSpotted Jawfish, Lepard Wrasse, Swalesi Basslet, Occ. clowns, Possum Wrasse and Circus Goby.

Have mostly LPS corals, maybe some small nipping "by someone" at some of my Zoos, but not enough to cause any real damage.

Best of Luck...

I have had my Venustus for approx 5 years now
has not harmed xenia and soft corals or clams but i have seen it nip some lps corals
mine is kept at 25-26 celsius up to 28 celsius in summer

I didn't QT mine (( though I only QT wild caught clowns )), and with it coming from DD, I felt pretty safe about that choice.

Still shocked how quickly mine ate.
