Vermiculata vs Pocillapora

So I came home yesterday to my acropora vermiculata laying on top of my pocillapora. The pocillapora is now shedding skin from the area that was stung. The area is in the heart of the coral, dead center in the lower branches. The stung area is white and badly damaged.
Not sure what to do here. Just let it be? It's gonna be hard to clip the bad area because its in the center of the coral. This is a decent size frag that I have had for a year and it was in perfect health. Now it badly shedding skin. What should I do from here. It's epoxied on to a large rock in the tank.

Keep an close eye on it and if the dead area starts STN'ing you might want to frag the branches. You lose the colony, but you keep the coral going via the frags. Hope it makes it.

Why's it matter if algae starts growing on the deAd area? Or not? Just asking because I have a colony that almost rtn All the way but stopped and is slowly growing back but there is algae on the old growth
