Vertex Illumina Club

I think once you install them, assuming you have the firmware already up to date, it will auto recognize. I did mine at the same time so I don't know if there is a specific install order

There is software for both PC and Mac, they are both for download from the vertex site
http://www.vertexaquaristik.com/Pro...wnloads/tabid/581/language/en-US/Default.aspx

I just downloaded the software for Mac. I tried to open it, but it said "Vertexdesktop.jar" can not be launched. I double check the link on the Vertex site and it did say that it supports up to Mac OSX 10.4. I'm running 10.5.8. Could this be the problem? I haven't received the fixture yet, but I do want to familiarize myself with the software. Any Mac users out there?

Thanks Rodney,
Actually it was another thread that I saw with pictures of Rics with and without UV!
But this thread also the difference is amazing:

Pictures from pete oceanarium.

That is why I went with Illumina since you always need the white and Blue and everyday there is a new LED and new... so very versatile this way just having to add new modules.
I'll give the Beta UV software a go when I'm back home.
Can't wait, already ordred the UV pads from Premium.

Yeah, that is the issue, either run it on bootcamp! or email them to see if they have the 10.5.8.
Although they are taking a long time with the UV update, they have always been quick with Mac.
Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave for your help. I just gave up running it on the Mac and dug out an older laptop running Windows XP and it worked just fine. However, certain menu items are not available unless it's hooked up to the fixture. Guess I'll just have to wait.

BTW since you're in Hong Kong, have a drink at the bar at the top of the Peninsula hotel and/or the Intercontinental hotel. The views are awesome!

Yeah the Pen! pretty historical place!
I'm here often. I work for Siemens , we have a few ongoing projects here and while the wife and kids are not happy about it, its a fun place!:spin3:My only complain is the stinky Tofu smell on some streets!
Man I can't handle the stuff other than that love the place!
Cheers,
Dave

Same here, I get the same error. I have learned to ignore it. Hopefully they will fix the bug in the next release.

If I recall there is a save button in the menu or on the program configuration settings. Let me know if you can't find it and ill open it up.

Hi All - I have just joined the Vertex club as well. I got the 200 four foot fixture. It is replacing a fixture that had four 54W ati bulbs and 2 250 watt metal halides. During peak lighting with the previous fixture I had over 700 watts of electricity on the tank during full sun peak time. While this fixture is nice and bright it does seem to match the same level of lighting I had on the tank previously I would need to start this fixture out at a lot higher levels than what I see most have done - somewhere in the range of 80 both blues and 60 white seems like a good starting point, but after reading through this all seem to start a lot lower than this - just looking for some feedback and suggestions to see what all think?

Interested in hearing any comments as without running the light at the 80/60 levels mentioned above it doesn't seem as bright as it did when I had the ATI/Metal Halide combo, but I don't want to damage the corals either in the acclamation to this light.

I had the same thing, went from a giesemann infiniti at a total wattage of 716W. I would still recommend starting slow. But I bought the 260 4 foot

What are you starting your light out at? I am thinking both blues at 55 and white at 35 for a week and start working up from there.

Anyone install the UV pads yet? I have the UV pads in hand, but awaiting the software. Did anyone try out the BETA version of the software?

I installed the UV pad yesterday but didn't turn on the lights after installation. I am still waiting for the software.
