Vertex Illumina Club

So my tank is 24" deep so what are the better & cheaper options you recommend?

The SR200 series are rated for tanks up to 24" according to Jamie from Vertex (KologneCoral) from my discussion with him a year ago. However, when I tried to order the 200 series recently, I was told that Vertex is discontinuing them because the SR320 and the SR360 are coming out. I went ahead and bought the SR 260 instead for future tank upgrades. Mike (Mimbler1) was told the same thing when he ordered his light.

You might want to contact your Vertex retailer in Australia to see if they still have the SR200 series in stock. Otherwise, you may have to get the SR260, which is not a bad thing. I would rather have the option to dial down the light than not having the option to dial up if I were to get a larger and deeper tank in the future.

This might still be too early but can anybody else confirm if the UV pads do improve on sps coral coloration. I am on the fence about buying 2 UV pads. Thanks :)

Hey guys,
I finally got a chance to download and install the new desktop software as well as the latest illumina firmware. I loaded my old settings and uploaded and now my program turns on to where it should be however with the RED modules on at like 100% it seems, Anyone have this issue or know how to correct it. The red should not be on and its at 100%.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Rob

There is also another advantage of getting the stronger one and dialing it down. You get the same light output of the 200 but using less energy than using the 200 would for he same amount of PAR!
I have the 260 and never went over 55% for the whites and 80% for the blues.
I guess all this also depends to your aquascaping. when you have a shallow tank and the corals are too close to the water surface then you have it dial it down more.
If you have a deeper tank and have the corals deeper in the water then you can go higher with the whites and Blues.
I have the Red installed and have them @20% max. midday I have them @10%.
I can't wait to use the UV, they are sitting on my desk at home but has to wait until I make it back stateside!
Can someone please post a picture of the fixture with the UV on so I can have this itch killed a bit!:spin1:
Cheers,
Dave

What is everyone's consensus on the number of UV modules I should install in a 36" Illumina 260? 2 or 3 UV modules?

My new tank is 48" x 30" x 24" and will be SPS dominated. Thanks!

I guess since these are new there is no solid data.
I have a 1200 and have 4 reds installed, I bought 4 UVs but not installed yet.
4 Reds is a huge overkill, I will be removing one red and go with 3 reds and 4 UVs.
BTW, May I ask were you are from? We got some dirty places in Cali and I hate to see someone pulling a fast one on us without proof

Well I just placed my order for 2 UV modules on my 24" 260 fixture. I guess I could not wait. I will probably get them installed next week.

I am going to install my 4 UV modules tomorrow. When I update the firmware of the fixture, should I use complete or necessary updates?

Thanks for the replies! I was thinking 2 would be enough to start, especially at $100 a pop...

Dave, I'm in Bakersfield or more specifically Oildale, CA., which is plenty dirty don't worry! ;)

Vertex_Desktop_PC_1906 Bug ?

Vertex_Desktop_PC_1906 Bug ?

Complete mate:fish2:

Hello hagarthefish,

I have an illumina 260 1200 with two red modules and two UV modules.

I have done two complète update with the new FIRMWARE_ILLUMINA_1952 (and with the new vertex desktop ) and i have the same bug ???

All the modules works wery well and i see the uV module in the desktop, I can use "compose the color" but i can't transfert my custom setting onto the device (the software rampe ).

I have the pop up "write program process" (Normal, but without progression )

after, I have these messages

"No lamps " (in the green rectangle in the bottom )

"Ftdi during program saving"

Fortunately I can create a custom setting directly on the rampe
and In this other way, it works, i can download my custom setting created on the rampe...

What is your recommandation for the intensity of the UV ? I suppose that you have done some test before?

Thanks for your help.

I had some issues with the Beta software that wouldn't let me upload the program correctly. I have since found a solution.

When you open the VLink desktop software, don't let it fully download the program from the Illumina (if you are using a laptop. Once it connects and starts to download the program, move far away from the fixture). It'll show an error in connection. Then set the new graph from scratch. Move the laptop back close to the illumina and upload the graph that was just created.

To see if all is well. Run the Quick motion.

Anybody experience this? I have since re installed the latest firmware - complete to all modules. Still my red aux are on what seems to be at 100%. Any experience with this?
Thanks

Hi Stephane, I would and did start them quite low at 15% for a week or so. I noticed a colour change instantly at this level and after a few weeks of usage I have just increased them to 17%.
This is probably overcautious, but thats no bad thing as our tanks/ corals come first.:fish2::fish2:

I also found I had to redo the light graph from scratch after the upgrade

Hello Patrino,

After the installation, every color were at 100 %, so I have create a custom setting on the rampe, and now everything is ok, except the bug that i have described.
