Vertex Omega 180 stopped working

Hi All
i have a vertex 180 omega protein skimmer. It was working like a charm, when all of a sudden it started to overflow. i unplugged it, emptied the collection chamber and then plugged it back in, after abt 30mins. No all i hear is a rattle sound coming out of the pump and there is no foam action whatsover. i've tried to adjust it, disconnect/connect the air pipes etc..but no result. still same rattling of the pump and no foam whatsover. only a minimal amount of water gets into the pump. The water level is abt 6-7 inches in the sumptank. ive only run the skimmer for 15mins before unplugging it again...do i need to run it longer ?

Any help is appreciated ?

I had that happen with my 150. The impeller has broken. The head separated from the shaft.

Have you tried to do a complete disassembly, inspection and cleaning of the pump yet?

The Omega 150 were tuff to pull the impeller, the magnetic pull was stronger than the bond between the shaft and impeller causing it to pull away a free spin. That is why I quit pulling the impeller and I just soak it in vinegar and run it in vinegar,

So the OP you need to pull the impeller inspect it to see the condition of the impeller.
