Very Bummed!

So I just got a beautiful Flame Angel a couple weeks ago. It was about 3 1/2" long. One day it was there swimming, eating and all the sudden...Poof! Gone! It's been a week and still no sign of it. So bummed... I know the they say Briddle Stars have been known to eat fish, but I don't have one! I have a RBTA, but I don't think that would take it, plus it's not that big... Would my Coral Beauty have fought it at some point, killing:headwally: it then disposing of the body! I need a fish whisperer... http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/images/smilies/headwally.gif

What other fish do you have with it?

Brittle star, btw... not briddle.

Any decent amount of rock in a tank will allow a fish to die without you ever finding the body. It's not uncommon at all for a fish to disappear, never to be seen again. Rest assured, your cleanup crew like your hermits and snails had a field day ripping the flesh from it's bones.

Also, if you have pets, consider that the angel could have jumped through a small hole in the top of your tank cover (or a large hole if you're topless) and been eaten by a cat or a dog. It happens more often than you would think.

what size aquarium is it? unless its rather large, ive always been told that angels are best kept one per tank due to aggression towards each other.

chances are that your coral beauty harassed it and your clean up crew got to it. thats the only thing i could think of.

agree with Recty...if it jumped and you have a cat or a dog it could have been disposed of...if you have a big tank with lots of rock, it may just be hiding out...many of us have had fish that we thought disappeared, only to reappear several days or weeks later...had it happen with mushrooms and zoas too...good luck...

Hopefully, it will pop up soon! They can hide suprisingly well.
I hope you do NOT have a green brittle (or is it serpent??) star, those will catc & eat fish as they sleep..
