I am cycling a new tank, it is approaching the end of its cycle. I already have a small CUC and a healthy pod population. But these do not look like pods to me. They look like brine shrimp.. there is hundreds of them, they are all white/pinkish with black dots that look to be eyes. I have never seen them until my lights came on today. has this happened to anybody? im sort of confused how they got there.. the rock came from my other tank which i never fed brine shrimp to.. the pic doesnt do much but if you can get some kind of look at it i thought id include it. Working with an iphone so bear with me.

you can just see the overall shape of them if you look closely at the three focused ones. other than that this pic is kinda useless... anyway. thanks for any responses

They do have a true shrimp shape to them. Peppermints in either tank? Close-ups might help a lot, but probably not easy to get w/o netting a few into a dish.

not a single shrimp in either tank. im not really concerned, b/c i know they'll make good food, but what my concern is if they all die.. will it spike my tank? because its almost done cycling so im not sure if putting a fish in to eat em up is safe yet..

They are tough creatures-- very common hitchhikers on rocks and corals. If they can survive the entire transport and handling process rock and corals go through, a cycling tank isn't likely going to hurt them. Even if they did die, it's not going to hurt your tank.
