Very funny acting clown

I have had my O.clown for 2 days now. I acclimated dropped him in and he was fine.
Last night I noticed after the lights when out he was swimming in the way back corner. This morning I wake up and he is practicially swimming sideways barely moving at all. I go over to the glass he responds to me and swims away. I got back to bed and turn around in look at my tank after a half hour and he is doing the same thing. Finally it was lights on time so I threw them on and he started swimming regularly.
Now he is all over the tank acting normal like he was yesturday. He likes to stay in the same spot for a while and then go to another one.
The weird thing is he wasn't breathing heavily or anything. Once in a while he twitches out but not badly.
My water parameters are as follows:
Temp: 78 F
SG: 1.024
PH: 8.4
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrates: 5-10

These are all constant as well (SG and Temp)

Any ideas of why he is acting funny or maybe he isn't really at all.
He has eaten several times too.

I agree with thunder. That sounds like how they sleep, its quite cool to watch.

Also they can appear to be a bit groggy in the morning too :P Our fish live in an ornamental bell (of which they love and are VERY protective) they will try to sleep in until about 10am by staying in the dark of the bell :P

Clownfish can be quite lazy when they want to be haha :P

Is the clownfish by himself? The twitching is usually a submission-dance that a smaller clownfish will do to a larger (the female) when they are establishing domincance. They will also shimmer across the sand in an effort to clean it, or just to dig a fking hole :P

Your clownfish does sound alright though, just as long as it is eating and appears healthy during the day then I wouldn't worry too much.

Scott.

That is a great relief. He is alone and he is a very very small guy. 1.5 inches.
It was almost like he was swimming in the same spot sideways it was so weird.
I am so used to FW fish that have no personalities and stuff. This clown is completely different than anything I have ever kept so I am unaware of what to expect.
Good to hear he is doin fine though.

That is the reason why I love our O. clowns so much. They have so much personality and are always trying to cause mischief.

IMO, they should be tagged "Decorator" Fish. They are really bad at moving stuff around they don't like. I used to come home and find pieces of shells everywhere on things cause they would pick them up and move it. I have also had to add a tile under the sand of their house because they were digging up the sand so much :P Always fun and games when clowns are involved hehe

I think with any bigger fish or marine fish they have personality.
Like my buddies midas cichlid and green severum are insane. At the store all the yellow tangs watch you when you walk by too.

Haha. I don't consider Tang's to be intelligent. I'd say the Yellow Tangs are just confused :P Finding Nemo was based on the actual behaviours of the fish.

Well if you think about it, clowns have more brain space than tangs:D

I have a powder brown, and I could sware she is another clown. She swims with my pair of O. clowns and nibbles on my finger when I put it in my tank (clowns do that too) and if I try to touch the coral they are hosting (yes THEY- including the PBT) they get annoyed with me:)

Haha I can relate to that. I am sure my Blue Tang thinks its the leader of my pink skunk clownfish. *shrug* Some parent's do have-em eh lol.

I do like how the tang plays possum. Pretending to be dead against the rocks when its scared.

My clown is doing great and he already comes right to my hand when I go to put food in the tank.
He loves playing in the current too from my powerhead and HOB.
