Hello All,
I am a newbie at the saltwater reef hobby. Have done fresh water in the past.
Just received my rock from TBS yesterday afternoon. No problems, packed well, no leaks. I sweated the decision on what live rock to buy, but after reading this forum and touring the local fish stores, I believe I made the right choice. These rocks are so much more alive than anything else I have seen. Though I did not order as much rock as I should have. Within minutes of putting the sand and rock in, the snails began touring the tank, I found a hermit crab, a couple of small crabs. Fascinating to watch the animals roaming their new surroundings.
Very happy with my new hobby.
By the way, You know that you have been obsessing about your new hobby, when you wake up to a dream about a mantis shrimp punching a hole in your tank, the water flooding the house running out to the street, the fish leaping out and floating away on a small river of saltwater. Seriously, that is how I woke up this morning. Had to run in the living room and check the tank.
Also, found one very small mantis living in the rock. I'll be watching him.
Thanks to Richard for the excellent rock.
Alan
