Started deteriorating a few weeks ago in display tank, finally got him out and into my Qt tank (45G).

I'm currently treating him w/ para-guard (fungus and parasite med)

Any other suggestions???

poor thing....I have tried 3 BSJF. First one lived for over 6months before wedging himself above the waterline on top of my tunze wavebox. Next one got the same look as yours after a few months of doing decent. Do the white splotches look like all color pigment has left the affected area ? I 'm afraid he is a gonner, looks pretty well set-in. I did bring one BSJF from looking like that back to healthy, but it only had one white spot area. I treated it with primaflex and milaflex (sp?) in a hospital tank immediately. After a few weeks, the fish's skin improved dramatically, so I introduced her to the main display where she died within a few weeks. I should have kept her in hospital tank longer. My 3rd BSJF jumped when I forgot to close my glass top.

most of the color is gone in the bad areas but there is still a slight hint of the original color. Do you think a freshwater dip would help at all???

I knew he was in bad shape for a couple of weeks now but i couldn't get him out of my main display tank until yesterday.

He is even getting a slight hint of red around both sides where his gills are, any idea what that is from???

He is eating but hardly at all, i tried feeding him about 5 times today only saw him grab a few pieces of food, he seems like he is still skibby about coming out into the open water, i'm wondering if he is loosing his eye sight????

just saw your other post suggesting agains a freshwater dip, i am feeling like i agree, maybe if he improved over the next few weeks, he is extreemly thin right now and in about as bad of shape as one can be in and still going....

i did have another question with regards to give him meds, should i just med the 45G tank he is in or should i net him and med him in a smaller 5G tank for a few hours a day so the dose would be more concentrated (more like i wouldn't have to use as much)???

That red is probably blood. Not sure why the BSJF get this. I've only found that mine improved when I did remove it from the community tank. That is what led me to believe it was stress related.

I didn't realize that BSJF were so timed, i have all what i thought to be peaceful tankmakes, i figured he would hold his own in there....i did a good bit of reading and no where did i see about them being unsuited for a community tank...
