The ballast for my vho lighting has a black and a white and a green wire for the power cord, The green has a ring to put a screw through it,On my power cord wire there is a white a black and green. Can I hook the 2 greens together?I think the green is a ground. Its a aro 220 ballast.

Thanks Bob

Yes you can hook the greens together. I would probably cut the ring off to make it easier and I like to solder all of my wires and then wrap them in eletrical tape. Black is hot, white is neutral, and green is ground.

Is ARO 220 the model number? Is the ballast input rated at 110V or 220V?

If it is 220v then both black and white are hots. Green or bare is always ground and all grounds go together. Be sure to ground all metal parts that are not supposed to be energized, including heat sinks, reflectors, etc.

Always use ground fault protection on all aquarium equipment.
