VHO vs. T5 Actinic supplements

I'm planning a new light system for a SPS tank. I decided to do 400W Radiums on the MH and am torn between VHO or T5 supplements.

All the systems that I admire use VHO actinic, part of me belies it's due to them being mature and established before T5 was popular.

What are the benefits of VHO over T5 in a SPS system if PAR is not a issue ?

i am switching back to vhos. i tried the t5 actinics with the gman pure actinic. not getting the pop i had hoped for so. back to vho

nothing pops like VHO IMO.

T5 actinics just look like a really blue bulb to me.

I asked the same question to the Grim Reefer a short time ago on the t5 thread, he likes VHO for actinics.

If you use a T5 Blue Plus and either the GMann pure actinic or UVL Super Actinic you get a very nice look that I prefer over a VHO actinic. The VHO probably pops the colors a little better but the Blue Plus T5 brings out colors a VHO wont. Personal taste.

ok i have the geisman pure actinc. and i have the aquablueplus as well. which one are you refering too. as far as blue plus

The Blue Plus is ATI's version of the 20Kish blue lamp. Giesemann calls theirs Actinic Plus. The Aquablue is a much more white lamp with a blue hue.
