will running vho's on a 40 breeder work for sps? if so how many bulbs would i need? thanks

Part of my frag system is a 30 breeder with 4 110W VHOs. I don't see why it wouldn't work for a 40 breeder.

what kind of sps do u keep?
is your 30 breeder all sps?
how deep is the tank?

does anyone have a link where i can find more generalized info on VHO's?

Here is a picture of my frag system shortly after it was set up a few months ago. The top tank (30 breeder) is about 12" tall. The bottom tank (custom) is about 6" tall.

Now that it has settled in, the colors of the SPS are much better, although not the same as the parent colonies lit by halides. The SPS in the top tank are mostly acros, although there are a few Montipora and a couple of random things. The bottom tank is mostly LPS and is lit by 2 VHOs.

I like VHOs although I'm not fond of that distinct pinkish purple hue. I used them for about 8-9 years on my reef tank before I switched to halides and I'm still using them on my softie tank and frag system.

I think that mixing vhos with mh would be the best.
