vibration dampening material

Huhhhhh

Anyone know of a good vibration dampening material I can put under a Dart and a Hammerhead? Both pumps will be sitting on an MDF sub floor and they hum way to loud just sitting on the board. I need to drill my sump for the bulkheads and need to find something to go under both pumps so I know how high to drill the holes.

I'm going to head to Wally World and get a cheap rubber auto floor mat to try and use to dampen the pumps vibration with.

I was also thinking that dynamat they sell for car stereo installs. That should quiet vibration down.

Well the auto floor mat didn't pan out as well as I thought it would. They were pretty thin and the thickest ones were $25 or more. Scott had suggested an anti fatigue mat at home depot for $20. so I went to look at those and it was 3' X 3' X 1/2 thick and not to hard at all. I bought that and cut the pieces I needed and it took away all the noise the pumps were making siting on the bare sub floor. Now I have 7 Sq Ft. of the mat left, so Scott you mentioned buying one for yourself now you don't have to. I'll bring it down to the store the next time I'm in.

I thought of that but they are not very thick and can deteriorate over time. This thick stuff isn't going anywhere.

Sweet. I'll have to try that on my Dolphin pump. I use the mousepad trick, but still get a slight hum.

Don't mean to hijack but... What's the easiest way to clean these external pumps(i.e. Hammerhead, Dart)? Without being submersible, how do you do the vinegar bath? 30 gallon trash can with lines in and out? Did I just answer my own question? Thanks for any input

Let me know if you want a piece of that mat. I was going to drop it off at Scott's the next time I was down there.

That is a good question about pump maintenance. How often should a Dart and Hammerhead be cleaned?

Sure, I could use a piece. One of the squares should be plenty, I'd think.

My goal is to clean all my pumps quarterly, but with the high flow pump, I'd like to do it more often just to ensure maximum output and to keep the noise and heat transfer down from abrasives against the impeller. But, that's just a shot in the dark.
Chris, can you chime in since you have about 20 Hammerheads running on your systems. :)

Ok I'll cut a square out for you.
