Video for Stills???

Sometimes when I see fish pictures in online stores (specifically LiveAquaria Diver's Den), I'm always amazed how they capture each fish in a perfect pose with all fins fully extended. Do you think they just shoot video and then pull the still photo from there?

Either they do that or a DSLR with extremely fast shutter speed. Taking a few thousand pics to get that right pose.

AFAIK ( I can easily be wrong as I don't follow all models) there's only 1 or 2 camera's capable of pulling stills from video.

More likely it's a photographer having the patience to sit, track his subject, and taking the shot when it presents itself. True it could be a matter of hosing things down and taking the one image from 1,000. However as I photographer I can tell you I wouldn't do that, Id rather sit for 2 hours, set my lighting/background the way I want it, then wait for what I'm actually looking for and take only a few shots. Than sit for 1-2hrs and shooting non stop and then have 995 images to weed through and delete when I get home.

2 hours waiting for the opportunity, wanting a shot with it wings and tails splayed out, about 40 images to pick from.

Pulling a still from video will not yield a sharp image. Unless you have a 4k camera. I'm sure they just set up, wait for the moment, and shoot a few quick snaps. With the DSLRs today, you can multiple shots quickly.
