Vitamin enriched brine shrimp for Anthias

I just got a few Dispar Anthias. They started eating the frozen mysis shrimp right away. I was reading, and it is recommended to feed them vitamin enriched brine shrimp. I this really necessary or can I just soak mysis shrimp in Zoe?

Well, anthias appreciate being fed multiple times per day. PE mysis is good, Nutramar ova is good, etc.

I have heard Anthias can't live off brine only, they have to be vitamin enriched and that's why a lot of people with Anthias make their mix of food. I feed mines pellets,flakes,brine and mysis. I also feed them 4 times a day which keeps them fat and healthy. hahah

How do you feed 4 times a day? I work 8 hours.

Once around 10-11am once again 2-3pm, 6pm and 10pm. But some days I feed only 3 times. They usually get some pellets in the morning and then their brines. I end the day with pellets and mysis together.

damn, i was too busy getting st**ed and going to classes in college to try a reeftank! LOL I probably would have done better in school if i had grown corals instead of other things!

getting back on topic.....if you can get your anthias to eat pellet than it's really easy to feed multiple times a day. get an autofeeder. I just tried some micro bartletts and they surprised me by taking to NLS pellets virtually right away.

I've had my dispar anthias for 1yr+ and never feed brine, from my understanding it's not very nutritional unless newly hatched or enriched.

Mine eat NLS pellets 3 times a day from an Eheim autofeeder and at least 1 feeding a day of mysis. ( not including the times I manually make the autfeeder dispense pellets which is just about every time I walk by the tank)

I do the same. Auto feeders are great. I also feed live baby brine once in a while among other frozen foods.

+1 I have one anthias that eats pellets and he's the only survivor. he's nice and plump! I only feed once a day too!
