Vodka and Hydrogen Peroxide

Can these be dosed in conjunction with each other? Or will the Peroxide kill the good bacteria the vodka is trying to create?

Was curious how to deal with Dino's and GHA at the same time.

Thanks

Peroxide is an oxidant that can disolve some cellular walls , depending on concentration & cell wall structure. But the oxidant effect is short lived as the H2O2 molecule releases an oxygen atom pretty fast. So it's possible it could disrupt bacteria production temporarily. No idea for how long or to what extent.

I can't imagine it being dangerous under normal circumstances. Unless you're cleaning up a tank with huge nitrate levels, with poor skimming & large concentrations of peroxide & vodka for example. All bets would be off there.

Peroxide won't disturb the nitrifying bacterial filter either in a mature tank when doses at reasonable & sensible levels.

I actually no longer have GHA...just wanting to know what to be prepared for when Dino's show their ugly face. I currently dose vodka at 5 ml a day on a 36 gal tank and have 0 PO4 and 0 Nitrates. In my sump, I am starting to see some Dino's in the area where I deliver the dose of vodka...which also happens to be where the grow light is on for 16 hrs a day.

I didn't know if you were better off to leave the Dino's alone in the sump since the DT is clear of all nuisance algae and bacterias...wondered if by leaving it in sump if it would work like a ATS and outcompete the DT for nutrients. Or if leaving it in sump could have it make its way to the DT because I didn't address it. There in lies why I was considering H2O2 for the tank.
