Vodka Dosing = Cloudy Water

Ok, very glad i found this thread, i must have overdosed my 90 because i have cloudy water now for 2 days. I do not have fish yet just coral, snails and shrimp, first fish coming Friday. Should i do a water change or leave it as is?

Getting back to the original question. What % of Vodka and Proof did you use? Also did you start very low dosage amounts? I mean like 0.1 mL on the first few days?

My friend's tank had this issue. He used 40% on his 180 gallon. He did not follow the correct regiment, and one the first day dosed about 1.3 mL and that clouded up his tank. Could have also been a bacterial bloom.

Yeah, I put way too much in. It's 80 proof. Water is not milky or anything just has a slight cloud. Corals all seem normal, ph is a bit low like 8.09 Skimm has increased a bit. I mixed 30g of fresh water tonight, but I'm going to wait till tomorrow to change it, it's still a little cool, heater is working on it though. The clouding is less tonight than last night by a lot, I guess I need to read more about this process, can someone tell me though if changing the water is going to help, make it worse, or defeat the purpose if the dosing, ie get rid of the bacteria it was trying to grow..

Well it's hard to tell for sure but the water looks clear now, lights don't come on till later today, but my tunze moonlight is on and looking thru the side if the tank i see no haze in the moonlit area and it seems clear. Guess I got ahead of myself with the vodka, I'll read thru more info before i dose it again.
