Vodka dosing in my 180g

Yes as long as I am taking pictures of the color of the test results. Not very scientific, but we'll see how it goes.

The first carbon/bacteria source I ever ran was Polyp Lab's Reef-resh (have used one full bottle of RF Fuel and one full bottle of RF Genesis) without any Cyano bloom even when dosing huge amounts in trying to kill off a ton of Macro Algae... Even at "overdose" levels the biofilm was a clear snot-like bacterial goo on the rocks

I temporarily switched to Vodka and Prodibio Biodigest when I ran out of RF and began to see a bit of Cyano in the lowest flow spot on my DSB (front right corner of tank)... I switched to Brightwell's about a month ago, and I've continued to have Cyano in the front corner...

Last weekend I got proactive and scooped the very top layer of that section of sand getting as much of the Cyano as I could out of the tank... so far no more Cyano in 3 days... I believe in my case there was a bit of detritus build up in the sand that led to the Cyano in that area... but even Brightwell himself has stated that there is often a "black film" as a side effect when using MB7 and Bio Fuel (I read that here on RC, so could be hearsay)...

I will either switch back to RF (a bit pricey at $115) or try a combo of VSV and Biodigest (lighter on the Vodka and heavier on the Vinegar) once my Brightwell carbon/bac source is gone, but I will continue to use the NeoZeo stones for a while to see how they work with other c/b sources... I'd love to get into the Zeovit world, but that is even more expensive than the RF!! Maybe if my personal economy picks up in the future

I wonder if the Reef BioFuel would have caused the cyano if used from the start.... but good to know that it stuck around while using the product. Maybe I'll clear up what was caused by the vodka and start fresh with a bottle and see how it goes.
