Volcano club

Since there seems to a club for just about every skimmer out there and I have not seen a "Volcano Club" yet I thought I would start. Here is a picture of mine right out of the crate before set up. Believe it or not this is one of the smaller Volcanos that Spazz makes!

I reallly would like to say that Scott is a great guy and i endorse any product made by him as he really does alot of research on his products. I am currently do a diy skimmer and he has helped me alot with my design. I wanted to ask the volcano skimmer owners if someone would email a close up picture of the dart intake tube as it goes through to the bubble chamber and how it is cut to allow for the water into it. Please send email as i do not want a competitor to see these kinds of details. my email is kcs75002@yahoo.com
again this is for a diy one off skimmer design.

I am proud to say I'm the first member of the club. I was given the original prototype known as the "Big Ugly" to test. His skimmers and his work are incredible! I can say with certainity that my tank would have crashed had I kept my old "Deltec" style skimmer online. Even though it was sized specifically for my system they just can't do it. They can't handle the total system gallons they claim. Spazz's Volcanoe came online and completely changed the colors of my corals and cleaned my water.
It is the best skimmer on the market and I have had quite a few!

I could go on and on but will leave it at that. Proud member of the Volcano Skimmer club!

I know there is more of you lets see those pics.Hey Scott if you happen to be in hear looking at this thread please post those pics of B.W.new 9 foot monsters.

Hi Tom, The only real pictures I have are on the reef tank of the month article in January. I can say that my skimmers from spazz have been running now for almost two years with no problems and not even any maintenance outside cleaning the cup. His prototype the "big ugly" which isn't close to being as efficient as the current model out skimmed my deltec duplicate 8 to 1 at half the power!

My deltec duplicate was designed and built specifically for my tank and Spazz's protoype produced 8 cups of skimmate for every one my other skimmer made.

I haven't found a single skimmer on the market that can come close to a Volcano. Read the side by side specs of all the other major brands. In the same stocking category they all draw more power in a smaller body size. Therefore simple math tells you they are processing less water at a higher expense. Even the famous Bubble king with their super efficent pumps pull higher wattage numbers per gallon of water processed in the chamber!

Furthermore many of these other skimmers that are going on these tanks always seem to have changes or additions done to them at some time after they are in operation. Even David Saxbies famous aquarium was running three skimmers in the latest article I read earlier today. This is hogwash. That aquarium only needs one properly sized skimmer. Multiple skimmers actually compete against each other and become even less efficient.

Look at the holding capacity in the main chamber of the skimmer. Spazz's skimmer processes the most water at a time in each stocking category. The deltec skimmer for a 2000 gallon tank may hold approximately 12 gallons which is processed at any time. Spazz's skimmer for a 2000 gallon system holds approximately 100 gallons in the main body. This means that it is cleaning 100 gallons at a time and doing it with less electrical use than a skimmer only cleaning 12 gallons at a time.
Of course his skimmers will rock!

Energy...well that's good to hear! Now I REALLY can't wait to get this thing hooked up and operational. I've always heard good things about these skimmer without any negative feedback like so many of the others out there. Your tank on TOTM was one of the reasons I chose this skimmer. Thanks for the feedback.

Here's Volcano No. 1 in action.
