Vortech in a Corner Tank

I have a 54 corner tank and I'm wanting to put in a Vortech pump. I want to keep the right flat panel empty since it is visible over my 1/2 wall to the kitchen. So I want 1 pump on the other flat panel that is against the wall.
I had a MP10 earlier this year, and it was too small. So I had to run it at 100% and then it was too loud and didn't do enough flow.
So I'm thinking about trying a MP40, but I'm not sure it will work well with my tank's piece of pie design. It's not adjustable for flow direction, and that's the only issue I can see. I'm planning on mounting it about 6" down and running it around 50% or so.

Does anyone have a corner tank and use Vortech MP series pumps?
If so, how do you like it? How is the overall flow in the tank?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

For the 54G Bow tank, I think both (1) VorTech MP40wES would work excellent and will definitely provide more than enough flow for every portion of your tank!

I know the flow will be enough, the MP10 was just a little too small, so with the MP40 around 50% it should be fine.
I'm just wondering how people do with them with the bowfront and the flow coming off the side flat panel.

Still figuring this out myself. Currently running a pair of MP10WES on each side in my 90 bowfront (four sided). They do a fine job with mixed reef, but as you mentioned, they are running 5-100% depending on mode and can get a little noisy (in Bedroom). I really want to upgrade to a pair of MP40's, and recent price drop, maybe they will find their way under xmas tree this year!

Sincerely,

David

I'm hoping by running it around 50% that it should be silent.

Right now I only have 1 WP10 in my tank, my other one died. I get a nice gently flow with just that one, but it's not enough. The tank naturally causes a gyre effect with the flow, and the corals seem to be loving it.
