Vortech mode?

Hi everybody from Puerto Rico. I have a vortech40. My tank is mainly sps. What mode did you preffer with that kind of corals?. Thanks for your opinion.

Reef Crest Mode (yellow). My SPS love it, and the LPS take it OK. I had trouble placing the Vortechs to get the best flow without blowing the tissue off the corals. I put my slave MP40 in anti sync (white). I'd like to hear more opinions as well. Tagging along....

I have mine on long pulse mode. It works best for me because it keeps the pump at 100% for the longest. With the other modes its barely at 100% ever.

I am having a bit of a tough time w/this too ... getting good flow w/out blasting the corals.

MP 40 on NTM mode
EcoSmart Nutrient Transport Mode (NTM) - A two phase program to promote maximum health and nutrient export, as well as increased growth for corals. Alternates between a resonant standing wave and a surge effect to stir up and export nutrients.

had to place it close to front glass not to kill any SPS :S

should get another one soon. I wish they lowered they price lol

I use the mode green and the other white. What ever mode that is.

On my MP10ES, green is constant speed mode and white is feeding/night mode.

I use reefcrest mode (2 leftmost lights in yellow mode on the MP10ES) at 70% throughout the day and use night mode (slow white blinking mode on the MP10ES) to slow the flow down to about 40% at night. During the day my LPS tolerate the increased flow pretty good, but the LPS really like it at night. The best of both worlds.

Short pulse mode all the way!! The wave action rocks. I have mostly SPS and some softies on the sand bed. Corals love it. Its cool to see the softies sway back and forth. Maybe a little over kill but I have 4 mp40's on 180 Gal. 60x30x24. So happy I went with 4. No dead spots and the flow is very random.. but not to chaotic.

Reefcreast most of the time but I like to switch it up with lagoon sometimes for a few hours but not to much as it gets the moter way to hot.

I use lagoon random with the second pump set in sync with the master. Lots of flow. I ran Reef Crest with the second pump set to async for a long time but I feel like I get more flow in lagoon mode.

So I take it that NTM is only on the new model controllers?

Yes, it is one of the new modes. But from the description it has in the manual, it seems you need at least two, if not three, vortech powerheads to get the most out of that mode. With my single vortech, I stick with the reefcrest mode.
