Vortech MP40

I just set up my Vortech MP40, all went well. I have it set on the reefcrest setting @ approx 80%. I also use the night setting.

Can anyone tell me what setting is the best for a reef SPS tank?

I will be using the reef crest on mine also. I don't really see the point of the wave, as I think random flow is better, but some people swear by it.

I use ReefCrest at 100% w/my second pump operating in anti-sync mode. I also used the nightmode for a while but then figured it wasn't really needed for my system. With two pumps in anti-sync, the combo produces the equivalent of 50% output for the two but incorporates randomness. Nightmode reduces the combi flow to 50%, but without any randomness. I don't see the point in removing the randomness at night.

I starting using my Mp40w on short pulse mode in the beginning. I now use reefcrest at just about full blast on my 50g breeder. Talk about some flow! Corals LOVE it!

I use the lagoon mode on my chalice tank. Smoother that reef crest. My tank is rimless, so really erratic flow is a no no.

I'd set the flow as high as you can without knocking stuff around. Your SPS love flow. Mine is about 55% on my rimless.
