VorTech mp40w question

After many years of operation my controller seemed to have developed a short near the power jack on the circuit board. It's not usefull anymore but I think the power head and associated insid the tank prop is still in good condition. My question is has anyone out there had an issue with the power head part and would want to sell the controller or would want to try my power head and if it works make a deal? I hate to see it all go to waste.

Just a thought before I relegate it to the box with other crap that does not work. As an alternative I have contacted Ecotech and they have asked that i send it in for evaluation. But since it's way out of warranty, I'm afraid that the cost to repair will be too high.

Any thoughts or constructively commments would be appreciated .

Tks

Tks reef, that might be an option if I knew the power head was working and I knew it was compatible with the new controllers. Based on what I saw I don think think so cause of the connector. Was kinda hoping someone's in here had a similar issue so we could test. Anyways the last option is to send it in.

Is the short from salt corrosion or physical damage? I am into electronics and it might be easy enough to fix it. Can you describe the short condition a bit more or show a picture?

Tks but same here. That's my background too. there is a small hole where the one conductor goes thru the circuit board. And it's swollen there too. A real odd problem. Trying to decide if I should send it in or just buy a new controller like suggested above. Just not sure how the power head connects to the new controller. The cable of the power head went into the enclosure of the old controller and connected via a multi wire connector. Just not sure how this would connect to the new update controller. I don't see how there is room inside that new enclosure to fit the large connector.
