Vortech/P3Ex not connecting

Hi,
I installed a VCT to my P3Ex over the weekend and got it properly assigned with the following details:
Firmware VTC: 1.02
Firmware controller interface: 1.02
Firmware RF module: 1.02

I run 2 MP40 in my tank with firmware 2.02.

On the VTC, blue and green LEDs are on and the yellow LED blinks in synch with all other devices on the PAB bus.

The VCT is 2cm away from the MP40 controllers.

When I follow all instructions to wipe-out the two MP40s and then set them to slave, I get a single yellow blink and then red/blue....

Something is amiss - help welcome!
