Slim-

We have been using a new fully plastic encapsulated magnet for the past few months. Your South African distributor is due to place an order soon and will receive the new Gen2 magnets at that time. Please contact him (http://www.aquariumdepot.co.za/) for this service.

great tim thanks

that is very pleasing for sure!! are there service kits available for prop washers?

At the start of this week I starting losing every piece of sps in my tank. I then discovered my vortech rusting much more than the one above. It would have been nice to know this was a common problem before I lost hundreds of dollars of 3 year old colonies. You would think paying 400 dollars for a pump would ensure some sort of quality control.

i dunno hey we all know vortech is new and there will be teething problems, they are good pumps and i for one wont complain about them, the thing is they correct their problems!!!

what are your water parameters? sps should not just die off from minimal rust that a vortech can give off, your skimmer should pick up excess, leading cause of death for sps in a tank is cause from unstable water parameters there is a whole lot more to look at than just pointing fingers at pump and taking it out on people who are trying their best to bring the market something new an innovative;)

some pics of your system would be great dude!!

its been known that this is a common problem, thats why they upgraded the magnet. They didnt try to keep it a secret or anything.

How big is your tank? I doubt you lost SPS due to the rusting. PO4 removers are stronger than the rust in the vortech magnet and many people run those removers in SPS tanks.
