wait on cycle for upgrade

I am upgrading from a 120 to a 250 gallon reef tank. Do I have to cycle or can I transfer the live rock and live stock all at once.

if your only transferring, you should be fine. But if your adding alot of new live rock at the same time you may see a decent cycle.

patience is so important, as you know, just wait a few weeks no matter how your moving. it just isn't worth it right? you never know what might be going on, so just take some precautions.

OK thanks, your right, the 120 cycled off and on for 5 months when it was new and everything worked out great, my wife is the one in a hurry. She wants the 120 out of the living room and everything in the new fish room i built over the last 5 month. My build was not very fast.
Thanks

Do you have a sand bed?
If so do not attempt to move that.
Add new sand and a cup of your old to "seed" the new sand.

+1^^^ that is exactly right.

just tell your wife that it is important to not kill the thousands of dollars worth of livestock that you have in your tank. she waited 5 months, whats 1 more.

You can risk it if you'd like.
The problem is that all the waste etc. that is been collected into it will be stirred up and released.

Sand is cheap, seeding it is cheaper still, not wondering what will happen to your corals is free. ;)
