Wall Hammer Location OK?

Got this guy today. He appears to be very happy in his current location. He started out in the sand but it quickly became apparent that he was way too big for that spot. I moved him up on the rock so he can fully inflate. Before I glue him in place I wanted to make sure he was oriented correctly.

Is this ok?

I'd say that spot looks pretty good only thing I would be concerned about is having him a little to close to the glass. If your not worried about being able to clean the glass with a msg float or something then it looks great! I got mine when it was just two head with a similar placement now he's huge!

Wall hammers are much much slower than branching ones. They are also much prone to brown jelly and common reports of them are they will do good for a few months then just start to sulk.

They need gentle flow, just to wave the tentacles. Trashing the tentacles can give them small injuries which will kill the coral slowly.

They appreciate low-high light. They aren't really difficult and mine had overcomes certain salinity swings. Just give them fairly low flow and they will be fine. That's a very nice specimen!

They can be fed but but its not necessary. Mine likes eating crushed pellets at night.

Thanks for the info. He was at the LFS for awhile. He's apparently very happy in his current location since he has doubled in size from what he was at the store. Might need to move him since he's rubbing on the rock a little now that he stretched out.

Yep. Going to move him. Unfortunately there isn't another spot that I can temporarily attach him to make sure the spot is good. I've got some water weld for the job. Was thinking of moving him to the white dot. How's that?

You can place it anywhere as long as you give it sufficient light and fairly low flow. Some nice bubble corals will look good under that cave lol

The LFS has a huge bubble coral. Want to make sure this guy is happy and healthy first [emoji16]

That's a good step. I tend to add much corals before and learned my lesson.

If the hammer went well for 6 months you can be comfortable to try other corals. ^^
