Wall paint question

The stand will finally be here for the 180 probably this week. the tank is currently at my parents house. We reinforced the floor and removed a closet to have the tank fit. when the wall got replaced the painter did not use a primer or a paint like Kilz. should we repaint the wall with a primer and a kilz type of paint on it? kind of concern about the moisture from the fish tank being right up against the wall

I built a 90g into my wall, and thoroughly coated it in killz and I still have a moisture "problem". I did it in may of '15, so maybe it's due to be done again? A small patch of the paint started to bubble up, it has an orange peel look to it, but it hasn't gotten any larger so maybe it painted it too think? Otherwise there's been no water damage to the walls, or damage to its integrity. It locked the cut side of the drywall in too. Someone had suggested I let it dry for a week before I add water to my tank, so I did.

The tank has been set up and running in my parents basement since 2011 and there doesn't look to be any water damage on the walls. But I don't know what kind of paint they used either

My tank sits right up against the wall and has been for 2 years. Plain old Behr flat latex with no issues. Only thing I have to do is wipe up the salt creep with a rag and plain water once in a while from sticking my hands in the tank and splashing.

There is never any moisture on the wall that I didn't put there through careless splashing.

Agreed, I wouldn't think there would be extra moisture involved. Toilet tanks will sweat due to the cold water refill, but not at 78-82° tank temp.

Top coat with a good pre-catalyzed latex epoxy .

I don't think it's anything to worry about. I would assume that if the painter didn't prime the wall he used a paint & primer to save time. It's not as good as priming the wall first then painting, but I don't think u will have any issues because of it. Can't really say for sure without knowing what he did, but if it was a professional painter I'm sure it will be ok.

Kiltz is just a name brand of primer. They have a bunch of paints that has primer mixed in with the paint.

Worst case it bubbles and I have to fix the paint. Plus that would mean taking the tank down and upgrading
