Walt Disney under 14k

Hey guys, so I a know a big problem with "designer" corals is that they don't look the same under lower kelvin lighting. I've been getting into some higher end corals and managed to pick up a Walt Disney. It still new to my system and needs to acclimate and allow more time to grow...but I figured I'd share how it looks under my lighting which is 250w 14k halide.

Nice guys! I would love to see everyone's pictures of this coral under halide or whiter t5 fixtures. Not the rainbow it was in the first pictures. Ut now that many have it there has to be some smaller colonies in people's tanks who run these lights.

Not 14 k but a much whiter light than people are used to. Hope I don't derail the thread :(

It is photoshop as much as it is the lighting. A very good shop here in town has a baseball sized colony under 20K radiums and a bit of Kessil and I won't ever trade him for it - I don't need anything that blah in my tank taking up room. Without the name and greasy photos, Walt Disney a $10 super hairy tenius to me. This is one that will never live up to the hype, IMO... others surely will disagree.

I agree with you.

I grade a good coral when it can pop-up even in a FTS picture. Regarding a macro shot... I think I can have my saliva under LED looks pretty cool.

I agree with both of you too. There are plenty of multi colored SPS that pop under regular lighting and dont need all blue LEDS to have that pop. Especially the ones that have very contrasting colors.

I have not even seen this one pop under blues in real life, just with a CPU, FPU and image filter.

Yep.. + whatever..
I've seen this under radion G4 and was not impressed...
I just don't get this coral..

I agree most examples of this you see in real life do not meet expectations....... However i do know of one i have seen in person that under blues IS just as nice as those pictures you see. A local fish store here. You wouldnt notice it under normal lighting (even under 20k) but when its straight blue and violet led it is really nice (but not the pricetag it carries nice)

Every time a run of the mill green tennuis with orangey brown polyps is at my LFS someone will call out ' hey it's another walt disney '............ who gives a toss what any acro looks like under actinic or blue LED lighting. If your acro display as a whole looks better under blue dusk lighting than it does under full lighting then you have poor colors. You should see two or three times as many colors and highlights when all your lights are on as when the blue's only spectrum is running.

Yup, I couldn't have said it any better.

The only acro I am ready to pay the price of a Walt Disney frag is a original Purple Monster 2-3 inch frag .
Some old school still wins hands down for me despite the multi colored signature acros that come out today .

Abhishek

Well.... I couldn't resist the hype so getting 2 variations of WD soon.
I'm surprised how orange passion does look like the pic in 12k lighting.
And hoping the same with WD but from the looks at the posted pic it doesn't look to impressive.

I've seen two locally and was like  A fool and his money they say...

We have this problem in Europe and the UK now everyone trying to give everything a bullcrap status via a rubbish name.
Buy corals only that you like and that are pleasing to your eye. Too many names and too many hangers on to names. See so many people buy corals and don't understand basic coral care but think they form some elite of reefing cos they own a mynamesbetterthanyourscoral.
WD is a stunning coral if you can colour it up and maintain the colouration but then which coral isn't?
