Peter, what makes you say it's diphreutes? I agree, but the "tail thing" doesn't make sense to me. They always look the same to me. The snout is not one of an acuminatus.

Black stripe hits the anal fin just below the entire caudal peduncle on acuminatus, making a smooth line, while it hits mid way on diphreutes, then cuts down to the beginning of the anal fin. Also, especially evident with the fins slightly flared in this picture, the back of the anal fin creates a distinct 90 degree angle straight down relative to the horizon. Finally, the black cuts through the anal fin tip exactly half way through. In acuminatus, there is more white on the lower half.

I now have to disagree. I believe LA is correct and it is acumintas. Here is the picture on LA

Now here is a picture of a diphreutes on fishbase.

According to Michael "acuminatus the snout is more pronounced, the breast is not as robust, the anal fin ins more rounded, and the second black band on the body terminates above the distal end of the anal fin."

I would say the fish in the first picture has a more pronounced snout. The breast of the first fish is far less pronounced then the latter fish. The second black band ends above the distal point more so than the fish in the second picture. Very similar looking but the first fish I think is acuminatas, not diphreutes. Tim

Those differences with the snout/face are much less pronounced in juveniles:

As for where the black hits the caudal peduncle, look through the links I posted...I'm still going to go with diphreutes....
