Want advice on adding a hippo tang

Hi all! I currently keep a 55g mixed reef with a 10g sump. Decent amount of rockwork and corals, but still plenty of room for all of my fish to swim around, and a lot of open space. I currently have a 1.5" Yellow Tang, a small Ocellaris Clownfish, a small Pink Skunk Clownfish, and a small Royal Gramma (<1" on each of the last 3). I love Hippo Tangs, always have, and kept one once in this tank, before the tank crashed because of a dying anemone, 2 months into my SW Aquarium keeping, when I didn't know what I was doing. The tank has now been up for a full year, is quite mature, water quality is pristine, and I'm looking to add just one more fish. What is everyone's opinions on adding a smaller Hippo Tang to this tank? Has anyone kept a Hippo Tang successfully in a 55 or similar? I am open to suggestions as well, for an alternative fish to put in, in lieu of a Hippo Tang.

I added a 2" hippo tang one and a half years ago and it is at least 7" from end to end and I will be moving out of its 112g soon to find a bigger home. I wouldn't put one in a 55g, it will outgrow very quickly, and even more of a space issue with a resident yellow tang. As for a suggestion, consider a fairy wrasse - many types are available.

I have one in a 75g, I bought him when he was about the size of a Nickel, now hes about 3.5 inches, that has been almost 2 yrs. He eats like a horse and nips star polyps and eats zoos, thats the only downfall i have

i had a small hippo and a purple in my 60g for a year with no problems. i saw no agression whatsoever. however, they do grow fast and he's now in my 240.

Kevin, I do love those fairy wrasses, those are very nice.

Federfish, what other types of fish do you house in your 75?

I just added a Scott's Fairy Wrasse and wish I hade sooner, great color and always swimming around. Once my hippo is moved out, I'm going to add a couple more fairy wrasses.
