Want to add inverts - suggestions?

Howzit,

So I am currently running a FO 80G tall w/ a 20G sump full of LR. I want to add some inverts, but only if they can thrive. Any suggestions for an 80G with only a pair of clowns, few firefish, goldheaded goby and a cleaning crew?

Also, I am preparing to build a refugium (18G) within the next few weeks, and will wait until it has some time to establish some pods before adding anything. How long should that take and does it broaden my potential selection?

You should consider some soft corals like mushrooms, zoanthids, leathers. They are very hardy and don't require monitoring of your calcium levels. An easy addition to a FO tank.

Otherwise hermit crabs are fun to watch. You should always have some snails in any tank. I agree, the skunk cleaner is a great addition if you don't have any shrimp predators. A lot of people like the tuxedo urchin. I'm concerned about microscratches on the glass over time, but they are very cool.

mated pair of coral banded shrimp, any hermits, starfish, or after u get enough pods maybe a mandarin. u can probably put whatever u want in it seems how u dont have any predatory fish

Thanks for the input.

Have the hermits and a few nassarius snails. Worried there might not be enough to graze for a starfish in an 80G (or an urchin for that matter). Do they really scratch acrilic over time?

Just added a softy today actually. Plus I got the refugium running.

Would love to add a few cleaner shrimps, but they give my girlfriend the heeby jeebies.

Urchins can go on the fuge if it the fuge is big enough and lighted. I keep pencil urchin in a 20g fuge with reverse lighting. It lives off the coraline on the fuge. I didn't keep it on the main tank as it eats all the coraline. It's been more than 5 years already.
