Hi I just got my first saltwater tank 90 gal a pre-owned tank
been up and running about 6 weeks
I want to get some small clown fish and some others i also
want to get some more live rock and start a reef
a friend told me that i would have to get rid some of my fish
i have a
large foxface 4''-5''
2 damsels
1 sm damsel blue w yellow tail
1 cinnamon clown 2''
what should i do ?

Ya, unfortunately, the good bet is that anything you put in your tank now, fish wise, will almost certainly be attacked and maybe even killed by the damsels. Damsels are very territorial and very aggressive. If I were you, I would remove them before considering purchasing more fish. That's my opinion.

Congratulations on your new setup.

Damsels and clown fish are "reef safe" fish. A concern might be mixing clown fish since you mention you intend to add more. In my experience, it's best not to mix clown fish. I've found cinnamon clowns to be aggressive, especially as they grow.

Also, since you're tank is relatively new, it's worth considering adding fish slowly, giving time for your tank (e.g. bioload etc) to adjust to the strain of increasing amounts of organic wastes.

Best of Luck,

Rick
