Anyone have a deep 2" hole saw bit that I can borrow. It need to be able to drill through at least 3" of wood.

Thanks

It would be easier for me to drill from one side. I am cutting a square hole in my drywall and drilling through a 2x4 (base for the wall frame) and then through some hardwood (don't know the exact depth). I know that the base + hardwood is at least 3" thick total. If I drill the hole from the top, then then the square hole I cut will have to be larger. I am trying to keep the hole as small as possible. BTW - I didn't want to cut a hole in the floor because it would be much harder to patch if I was to ever sell the house.

BTW - I am doing this because I want to move my sump system out to the garage. With all the pumps, it's way too noisy to be in the living room. In addition, I am adding a chiller, so that will make it even louder. Right now - I turn off the sump system when we watch TV.

I have a set from ? to 5" I'll see if the smallest one is 2", I'll bring it to the meeting today if you like to borrow it.

Yep. As long as you can keep the drill on line and the adjuster bar isn't too long to fit 3" deep, sounds like a job for a "hole cutter" as opposed to a "hole saw".

Sorry - I should have been clearer. The depth of the hole has to be at least 3 inches. The diameter of the hole should be at least 2 inches (or slightly bigger). Worse case scenario, I can always just use a jig saw, but then the hole won't be clean. :P

We drill with 2" ones at work all the time.
When you get so deep then you pull the bit out and break off what you drilled with a flat head screwdriver and then rinse and repeat until you are all the way through.
