I am looking at a ultra blue maxima 4-5 in.
Will this be a goot first clam ?
Aney advise would be helpful .
My tank is a 125 gallon full blown reef / 400 halides

Thanks

not the best clam for a beginner....but if you do your research and your tank is healthy, stable, etc and the clam looks healthy i would say go for it........

I dont have a problem keeping things alive , but dont want to either . Do you have aney other sugestions on a good clam to get ?

deresas and sqamosas are easy that I have read, but my I only have maximas and croceas...my first clams were maximas...if you have plenty of light, great water quality...calcium over 400 and alkalinity at least 8 to 12 dkh then then all should be well...but if you have angels and butterfly fish then beware that they may munch of the clams...

Well I got a 3.5 inch blue crocea , and ordered a 5 inch ultra blue maxima . I dont know how to get up a pic but ill try to figure it out or send one to someone that can.

On photobucket .com do you have to crop the pics down or just send them the size they are ? This part gives me fits .

If you have the aptitude to keep a successful complex reef, then a clam should not be an issue. My only advice is not to buy them from a LFS unless they have proven a propensity to keep clams... or buy them directly out of the bag before they hit their system.

If you have any angels, they could nip, so keep an eye on them.

jda the clam was got from patrick . I dont know of him haveing problems with clams but he is ordering me another one do you think I should try to get it still in the bag ?

I dont put angels in reefs .
