i have a 37 gallon, with a few coral, a pair of clownfihs and a few other fish that i am planning on buying.

i will put all the corals on one side and want to put the anenme on the other and hope that it attaches.... what would be a good anenome to buy that will no be so motile and aggresive towards the fish/coral....

which anenomes would be easiest to care for and which ones more difficult?

thanks!

Only anemone I know of that will fit a 37 gallon is a BTA... They are very mobile tho and will sting corals.

Only anemones I know of they stay semi put are sand dwelling anemone and most of those get as big as 24-30 inches.

Agree with BTA as a good choice for your system. By the way, I just responded to the question you left on the visitor page of my member profile regarding the pairing of Maroon clowns. Knowing that you have Maroons, makes the choice of a BTA even easier, since this is the natural hosting anemone for Maroon clownfish.

Best to add the anemone before any sensitive corals, give it some time to find it's chosen spot. Once the Maroons are hosting in it for a while, there should be less chance of it deciding to take a hike. Then you can find a safe spot for your corals. No guarantees though, ultimately you never know what can happen. Should also mention that your system should be at least 6 months running before adding anemone, longer would be better.

Edit: Just noticed you already have corals, so ignore the part about adding them later, he he. If you can find a bit of a hollow in your live rock facing upwards, that would be a good spot for the BTA. They like to stay put with their foot in a depression in the rock.

thanks for the info!

what ihave in my tank as of now is a giant mushroom, some green and orange mushorroms, polyps, leather, brain, frogspawn and toadstool (all are small to medium size) and a few star polyps....

will anenomes attack polyps or just coral?

Unfortunately, you're going to have a difficult time with any anemone, in that sized tank. BTA or RBTA are about the only ones small enough for that tank, as was mentioned above. Even they can grow to 24" in diameter. I've got an RBTA that regularly expands to 18" in diameter. They also are more prone to move around the tank than most other anemones. However, most other anemones get much larger. When moving, they will sting anything and everything that gets in their way. If it's a quick brush, as they're moving, it probably won't do any damage. However, if they're moving slowly, or often, all of your corals, LPS, Softies, SPS and polyps will be at risk.

I'd highly recommend you refrain from getting an anemone until you have a larger aquarium.

They will sting polyps, corals, fish, basically anything that it comes in contact with that is doesn't recognize as friendly. If you get a BTA just be prepared to move corals as it moves to locate a home of its choosing. You may even have to remove some corals like the large shroom if the anemone needs space.
