Want to try Zeovit, but money is a big factor.

I've heard a lot of talk about zeovit and witnessed in this forum how much improvement over the sps coloration after people start using it.
Now the question is there are so many products in the zeovit line, do I have to use everyone of them especially the food. If I want to start today, what would be the bare minimum stuff I need, and how much would it cost if I let it run for one year in a 140 gal SPS dominated tank.

africangrey,

I would go to the zeovit forum to discuss it, it must be determine based on your particular tank, (its currently high nutrients or low nutrients, ect.)

don't think you will get much response as I have seem zeovit is not a cup of tea here ;)

I was going to try it also but decided it was just too darn expensive for me. You can get by with the basic 4 first... reactor with zeoliths, bac, start2, food7, and high quality carbon. Even that is expensive. This will get you to a low nutrient state where your corals will lighten up. Then you will need to start dosing a handful of other products such as AAHC and CV to keep the corals healthy in a low nutrient environment and SPUR2, K-B, PIF, PSG, etc., etc. to get the colors to come out on the corals. All in all, it is not a cheap system to run.

Some cheaper alternatives are the Prodibio line and the PolypLabs System Reef-fresh. Both of these lines will get you that low nutrient state but then you will need to dose some other brands' products to bring out the colors in your corals. Check out Iwan's tank in the Large tank forum to see his results from his Prodibio/ZEO hybrid method.

The Cost of the Zeo system is not that bad for 100g systems or smaller. The Start and food will last 9 mos. The bac and lith are what you go through. In this hobby, it is a drop in a very large bucket LOL
Oh BTW, This stuff really works in lowering nutrients, so much that you will need to start feeding more to compensate.....which leads to more stuff to spend money on.
