Wanting Frogfish

species only tank, very good water conditions, low flow, temperatures should stay below 80, live food initially (gut loaded ghost shrimp, feeder guppies). very few fish are good tankmates for frogfish, plan to keep it alone.

research the species. Reef Fishes volume 1 has an outstanding chapter on frogfish. some stay small, others get very large. a 29 or 30 gallon tank is big enough for many, but not all species.

a good value is the sargassum fish, Histrio histrio. Colorful, nice patterns, usually $25-45. Other desirable species of frogfish can cost much more. this one has a short little lure, not sure if it's functional. this fish is ravenous and will eat anything, so no tankmates, not even its own species! it'll get about 7 inches, should have a 30 gallon tank.

a great web site for ID and other information (but NOT aquarium care) is this one:

wetwebmedia.com is also a pretty good site for species information.
