wanting to start a tank for a peacock mantis

We have had tanks for years and now looking to add one for a Mantis shrimp. Have a few questions that I hope you can answer for me.

Is a 40 breeder large enough for a Peacock Mantis, What is that actual size they need?

Sand Bed, how deep and what type of sand?

Any special flow requirements for the tank or just regular power heads work?

From what I have read I do not need any special HO light, just something to light the tank to see in. Is this correct?

I am going to assume water chemistry is the same for a any other tank?

And Looking to make a burrow out of a 2.5 or 3 inch PVC pipe, Is this the correct size diameter and what length should it be?

And do I need to line the bottom of the tank with acrylic? If so how thick?

Thanks in advance for the help. We have most everything we need already just want to make sure we set it up how it should be setup. Would like to start cycling soon and get a shrimp in the next couple of month's.

40 is fine, actually should be the minimum.

Any sand is fine, avoid hawaiian black and crushed coral as it's very sharp and can damage their pleopods. Depth doesn't matter for O.scyllarus.

Like any adverage tank for waterflow.

Correct with lighting.

Yes, water quality should be kept around 76 degrees, 1.024-25 SG, 8.0-8.4 PH, 0 everything else.

2.5 is ideal for a full grown specimen but make note that you can't just use a 2.5" pipe and buy a 3" long O. scyllarus.. the burrow should be matched up. It's legs should be able to reach both sides of the pipe in any direction it's turned. I aim for atleast 2-3x the length of the animal itself.

As a precaution, yes, thickness I don't believe will be of concern with acrylic.

Just remember to provide rubble for it to close up it's burrow when molting.
