waratah anemone/strawberry anemone?

So I was back at phishy business agian today

Theyre anemone tank is exploading with color right now.

Hes got a 1/2 yellow 1/2 green bta thats unreal with tons of striations, and yes, the yellow one is still yellow

But anyways, I couldent resist the urge to get a new nem.

I got a waratah. I know it could possibley be a cold water species. It came from australia, and im pretty sure it's also called a strawberry anemone.

I was wondering if any of you had any imput or links to old threads about the waratah.

waraths are coldwater, and NEED to be fed, and they dont need high lihgting

this is a commonly referenced anemone on another board of the nano variety. I think you would have luck checking there. A few members actively prop these guys

walk along australias south coast will reveal these in their thousands (they go high and dry during low time). Im wondering if you could tell us how much you had to part with for the specimen?

phishy printed me an article that says exactly that. that they are exposed at low tide and can be found high up on the reef. It also says .. hmm.. must have been in the book, but one book said it was tropical temp and another said sub tropical (or somthing like that)

whats the temp there?

It's a cooler water species ~72, I keep mine at about 74. Feed it well and it might spit out some babies for you (live brooder).

They go for $20-40 US.

I got one about 3 months ago, it is doing good. Water temp 76, and low light.I feed it three times a week. good luck with your new nem.

Feeding it is no problem, low in the tank is no problem. temperature IS a problem...

My tank is a steady 80-81

I may be able to lower it to 78 come fall/winter.

If I see its health declineing I may need to give it to a good home.

Its hiding right now. MH is about to come on so I expect it to move some more

I have mine in a 5.5 with a 9 watt pc. The guy i bought mine from said they would do ok at 78.If water temp dropped to 76 to 78 other corals should be ok.Also if you have ledges for it to hide under light might not be a issue. Maybe someone will chime in to clarifie this.
