Warner Marine Now Has A Pellet Product

I add MB7 along with Amino Acids and a mixture of Reef Chile, Phytoplankton, Clycopeese and just started to use Potassium and Marine Snow from Warner.
I do kind of Mix it up except for the MB7 i dose 4 drops daily.
Bill:wave:

do you mix marine snow w/ aminos & mb7? ty

I've been running these pellets for about two weeks now and have a, I'm assuming a bacteria bloom for the last week. Water is cloudy, running the recommended amount for my water volume. How long can I expect this to last? Corals are OK, but my big Sailfin and Hawkfish are not. All other fish are doing well.

I thought people said it usually lasted 3-4 days. Did you add an oxygen stone? That maybe why the fish are having trouble - low oxygen. IMHO I would take half the pellets out and then add them slowly maybe 1/4 in a month and the rest a month later. Just rinse real well in RO water and let dry.

Get an airstone (or two) in there ASAP if you haven't already. Large bacteria populations mean less oxygen for fish and corals.

URGENT questions please.

increased the flow on my pellets (been running about 3 months) and 2 days later the tank has gone milky. is this a bacteria bloom because of the increased flow. should i reduce the flow a bit?

thanks
Aaron

Sounds like it. I would put an air stone in the tank just in case. The pellets only need a gentle tumble, any more than that and you can slough off bacteria into the water column. Also make sure the effluent of your pellet reactor is close to the skimmer's volute.

thanks for that. efluent is directly into the skimmer intake. I have lots of surface movement with some new tunze 6205's. fish look fine. some coral look a bit stressed but the water is clearing up. fingers crossed

Her's my experience with the product. Started 2&1/2 weeks ago running these. First 10-12 days had clumping, slime build up and bad bacteria bloom. Corals weren't looking good, my hawkfish was not doing well and my prized sailfin was in bad shape. All this happened while I was offshore and wife didn't know any better, ( I should have left her some instructions on what to do about this while I was gone she handles everything). When I came in I was real close to pulling the plug on these like I did with two other brands I tried. I put some carbon in about 5 days ago, cleaned out my reactor and re-started, went back offshore. Came back in last night and low and behold all my corals were looking good, my hawkfish was back to normal but I lost the sailfin. My nitrates before were running about 60-80ppm and my phosphates were at .5ppm. Checked this morning and my nitrates were at 20ppm and phosphates are at .0-.25 (hard to tell with the test kit). Bacteria bloom is clearing up and my overflow tubes are not as dirty as they were. The only problem if it is one is I had to run some warm r/o water down my skimmer air tube because it wasn't skimming good. Since I did this it picked up again. Figure it might have still had some slime on the pinwheel. Pellets are tumbling in a real good fluid motion. All in all I would have to say other than a couple of issures that I am happy with the results I have seen so far.

Wished she would have known to put an air stone in the tank, might have saved the tang. But glad things are starting to look better. ;)

My bad for not informing her. But other than that I like what I see. I have since slowed the flow down and pellets are still rolling very good. I may tune the flow down a little more in the next day or two. I am probably pushing about 175 - 200 through them right now.

No worries, glad you are back on track.

I have been running the EcoBak since last August. I have had some algea issues over that time, but not sure they are related to the EcoBak. Bottom line is my nitrates have been 2-3 for at least six months without any change. My phosphate is .02 per my Hanna checker and I took my GFO reactor offline about 3 months ago.

I just recently added a few new pellets to replace the ones that have depleted, but they dissolve very slowly. My only suggestion is to start the pellets slowly and don't drop a full liter of pellets in a new system (like I did) and shock the system. I moved the nitrates down way too fast and disrupted the system.

I have been dosing 80 ml a week of Microbe-Lift Special Blend to feed some beneficial bacteria to the 200 gal system. I started with MB7, but switched to Microbe-Lift about 2 months ago. I like the results so far.

when i ran pellets i didnt have any success with MB7
i stopped using the pellets and began with special blend.i had amazing results.

when i go back to pellets,i will continue using special blend

Humm special blend hu....I've been using it with mb7 the whole 3months I've been on pellets with good results. I am going to start using kz bac in the next few weeks. This is interesting .....

I'm a bit new to bio-pellets and I'm interested in running it. In fact i just ordered a reactor and 500ml of ecobak that will run off a mj 1200.

I'm currently on the zeovit system however i'm not running their zeolith. So I'm basically dosing zeostart3, zeobak, zeofood7.

My nitrates have always been at 5 tested with salifert and my phosphates are consistant at .03 with a hanna checker. Don't have any hair algae and film algae stays at a minimum.

I also run carbon in a BRS reactor and i used to run GFO but have pulled it about 2 1/2 months ago.

I guess my question is, would BP really make a difference even when my readings are pretty low as it is? I was going to stop using zeostart3 since the BP will be the carbon source.

Lastest update since 4/11. Nitrates and Phosphates are still on the decline. Today Nitrates approx. 12PPM and Phosphates approx. 0.02PPM. Probably a little error with test kits but definitly on the decline. Everything is looking great and only have to wipe down the inside glass once a week ( didn't really need to because there was only a slight trace of film) not the green film I was having to clean 3 times a week. So far great results.

Can I ask where people are getting EcoBak at the moment? I just checked premium aquatics and marine depot and don't see it listed - WM website is also a little funky with this product (page not found) - this stuff still inproduction?
